ULTCW is made up of many departments, each performing its own functions, but all working together to meet our commons goals as a union. They departments are:

Education

The Education department provides training and education for member development and activism. It provides skills for campaigns, organizing and working with labor management committees. It also teaches members how to share their skills with other members.

External Affairs

The External Affairs department is responsible for all policy, legislative, community and electoral direction.  Working alongside legislators and government representatives, it organizes the union’s efforts around elections, determines legislative policy and organizes community events.

The Member Services Department is responsible for coordinating a variety of activities that directly touch members’ lives. Those services include: The Health Trust; Labor Management Committees; The Homecare Exchange; the Member Action Center; and Member Benefits Services.

The Member Strength department helps to develop members into leaders. It encourages members to take ownership in union, while also creating a sense of unity among the members, and instilling a social conscience among them.

The Organizing department is responsible for growing the number of members in the union. It focuses on organizing workers in nursing institutions and at private agency homecare facilities. It also uses a variety of means to advocate for the improvement of working standards for all long-term care workers.

The Operations Department is responsible for the overall, day-to-day functioning of the Union. The department’s functions include finance, information technology, human resources and administration.

Public Affairs

The Public Affairs Dept is responsible for all external and internal communications for the union. It handles media inquiries, produces translations services, runs all online properties and designs all reports, flyers, brochures and promotional items.
